What we were asked to do
To create an eye-catching visual identity for the Power of Pop Fund that communicates the creativity within popular culture and the ambition for social transformation.
The Power of Pop Fund is a UK-based pooled fund, implemented by Comic Relief, that needed a strong visual identity to become recognisable programme in an emerging field.
What we did
We embarked on a program dedicated to reshaping narratives around prevalent social challenges. Our focus was on leveraging the radical potential of popular culture, specifically in broadcast TV and the creative industries.
Crafting a dynamic identity was key. This meant creating something flexible, adaptable to different audiences. The result? A vibrant and playful feel that reflects not only the diverse communities the fund targets but also the creativity embedded in the sectors it operates within.
Breaking down the letters of "PoP" into geometric shapes became our starting point. These shapes dictated the visual language we adopted, influencing headline styles, photo framing, and colour schemes. This evolved into the development of a custom font, providing a distinct visual signature.
What they thought about it
“It is quite remarkable what you have managed to do in six weeks. We had the learning event yesterday and it was wonderful to see the visual identity front and centre – you’ve made us all very proud!”
