What we were asked to do
EIF (Early Intervention Foundation) approached our team to help them create two key documents: a strategic summary and an Annual Report. These documents would play a pivotal role in shaping EIF’s public image and would be essential tools in conveying their role within a rapidly emerging sector of early intervention in the UK.
For the Strategic Summary the main goals were to create a document that would last for five years, designed to convey EIF as a credible, mature organisation while being timeless. It would be text-heavy, requiring a design that allows readers to easily navigate the information. It needed to align visually with the annual report but without the need for identical designs, while maintaining EIF's corporate identity and building on their brand's distinctiveness.
What we did
We designed the strategic summary with longevity and flexibility in mind, focusing on a clear visual hierarchy to help readers skim through heavy text. The layout emphasised key sections, with the centre spread designed to be the primary focus. This spread provided a succinct overview of EIF's position and mission, ensuring that if a reader glanced at just one part of the document, it would be this one.
Given the minimal use of imagery, we opted for clean, textured backgrounds that subtly enhanced the text without overpowering it. Pull-quotes and endorsements were incorporated to add authority and break up the dense content. The typeface choice of Roboto, with an additional headline font for emphasis, ensured a modern yet professional look that aligned with the evolving brand identity of EIF.
What they thought
The strategic summary was seen as a lasting resource that reflected EIF's credibility and leadership in the early intervention space. The clean design allowed policymakers and practitioners to engage with the material easily, while the centre spread highlighted their core message perfectly.
