What we were asked to do

Refuge asked us to design their annual report in a way that felt confident, accessible and unmistakably them. It needed to align closely with the Refuge website, using bold colours, clear layouts and strong brand elements. The report also had to make complex information easy to understand, be simple to navigate, and work beautifully as an engaging, online-only experience.

What we did

We explored four creative concept routes for the report: Community Connection, Transformation, Energy, and Safe Space, each offering a different way to bring Refuge’s work to life while staying true to the brand.

Refuge chose Route 3: Energy, a direction that reflects the organisation as a feminist force for good, driven by collective power and positive change. The design uses vibrant backgrounds, bold brand building blocks, illustration and iconography alongside confident, impactful photography. Flowing, looping lines add a sense of energy and movement, while also suggesting safety and connection.

After final approval, we created the full layout and added interactive elements to make the report engaging, easy to navigate and visually dynamic.
