Electrical Safety First

What we were asked to do

Produce a captivating campaign video highlighting the dangers associated with portable electric heaters, drawing on the personal experiences of four firefighters who have encountered these hazards firsthand. Despite initial reservations, the objective was to authentically capture the emotional stories of these frontline heroes, aiming to evoke genuine sentiments that would resonate strongly with the audience and enhance the film's overall impact.

What we did

"Don't Be the Next" presented a compelling campaign encouraging individuals to steer clear of fire incidents, showcasing emotionally charged interviews with firefighters. Our adaptable and subtle script facilitated authentic storytelling, allowing interviewees to openly share their experiences. By creating a comfortable environment and posing open-ended questions, we were prepared to capture emotional content. To our delight, firefighters shared poignant narratives that surpassed our expectations, adding depth and resonance to the campaign.

What they thought about it

The film was a huge success. The campaign attracted nearly blanket coverage, including the BBC News websiteThe MetroIndependentEvening StandardDaily Mail OnlineThe Sun, the Press Association, ITV online, ITV Lunchtime News Live and more than 170 regional online outlets. It also attracted nearly 60,000 views on Twitter.

We vied with John Lewis and Peter Kay for PR Moment of the week, and the client was so pleased they entered the film in the Charity Film Awards.

It was our first project with Electrical Safety First, and it couldn’t have gone much better.

Capturing emotion and turning it into compelling film is at the heart of storytelling.
