What we were asked to do
In 2023, Amnesty International had been on a three-year journey since an independent report found it to be institutionally racist. This was an organisation externally committed to anti-oppression and social justice that urgently needed to get its own house in order. We were invited to run a storytelling workshop with senior management, including the Secretary General, to develop a narrative of their progress.
What we did
Working closely with the Office of the Secretary General and Heads of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and Internal Communications, we planned, facilitated and reported on a one-day in-person storytelling workshop. The workshop helped uncover and highlight the themes and guardrails for the next stage of storytelling development. And we explored the narrative opportunities including the possibilities of multiple and interactive storytelling, framing and authorship. Throughout, we worked with our specialist partner Brand By Me, the antiracist branding specialist, to design a space and process that was safe, inclusive, challenging and inspiring.
What they thought about it
The client was really pleased with the rich discussions and findings from the workshop which fuelled the development of their internal strategy.
